Israeli Drone Strike Kills Three in Gaza City

An Israeli drone strike killed three Palestinians and wounded several others in eastern Gaza City on Saturday, Palestinian medical sources said, as the Israeli military's sustained aerial campaign over the besieged enclave continued to claim civilian lives with no sign of abatement.
The strike hit a residential area in the eastern districts of Gaza City, according to witnesses and medical personnel who rushed to the scene to retrieve the dead and wounded. The precise number of injured could not be immediately confirmed, though local medical facilities said they received multiple casualties in a territory where hospitals have long been operating far beyond capacity.
The attack is the latest in an unrelenting series of Israeli airstrikes and drone strikes across the Gaza Strip, which has been under a comprehensive military siege since October 2023. The Palestinian death toll from the conflict has surpassed 50,000, according to Gaza health authorities, with the majority identified as women and children. Drone strikes have become a defining feature of the Israeli campaign, with Palestinian officials and independent human rights organizations consistently disputing Israeli claims that the strikes minimize civilian harm.
Qatar, which has served as the principal mediator in ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel, has condemned the continued killing of civilians in Gaza and called for an immediate and permanent halt to hostilities. Doha has been at the center of diplomatic efforts alongside Egypt and the United States to broker a deal that would pause the fighting and secure the release of hostages held in the enclave. Talks have stalled repeatedly, however, as both sides hold firm on conditions the other has refused to accept.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has maintained that durable regional stability cannot be achieved without a just resolution to the Palestinian question grounded in international law, and has pressed the international community to exert greater pressure on Israel to halt operations in densely populated civilian areas.
The United Nations and humanitarian organizations have warned of a catastrophic deterioration in conditions inside Gaza, where food supplies are critically depleted, basic infrastructure has been largely destroyed, and the World Food Programme has described conditions in northern Gaza as constituting famine. International pressure for a ceasefire has mounted in recent weeks, yet Saturday's strike was a stark reminder that the human cost of the conflict continues to rise with each passing day.
