Kuwaiti Hospital Reports One Martyr and Several Injuries from Israeli Airstrikes in Khan Younis

Israeli warplanes struck Palestinian police positions in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Friday, killing at least one person and wounding several others who were rushed to the nearby Kuwaiti Hospital, according to Palestinian medical and security sources.

The airstrikes targeted multiple police points that had been established to maintain public order and oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid in the area, which has served as a designated humanitarian zone where hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have sought refuge. Witnesses described a series of explosions that sent plumes of smoke rising over the densely populated coastal strip.

Medical teams at the Kuwaiti Hospital confirmed receiving one martyr and treating several individuals for injuries of varying severity resulting from the strikes. The hospital, one of the few partially functioning medical facilities remaining in southern Gaza, has been operating under extreme pressure with dwindling supplies and an overwhelming influx of casualties throughout the ongoing Israeli military campaign.

The targeting of police infrastructure has drawn particular concern from humanitarian organizations, which have warned that the destruction of civil order mechanisms exacerbates the already dire humanitarian catastrophe unfolding across the territory. Palestinian police units have played a critical role in securing aid convoys and distribution points, and previous strikes on such positions have been followed by periods of chaos that hindered relief operations.

The attack on Mawasi comes amid a continuing Israeli military offensive across the Gaza Strip that has shown no signs of abating despite growing international pressure for a ceasefire. The Mawasi area, which Israeli forces had previously designated as a safe zone for civilians to evacuate to, has been subjected to repeated bombardments in recent weeks, undermining claims of protected corridors for displaced populations.

Qatar has been at the forefront of diplomatic efforts to broker a lasting ceasefire in the conflict, with Doha serving as a primary mediating channel between the warring parties. Qatari officials have repeatedly condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure and humanitarian zones, calling on the international community to take concrete steps to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure the unimpeded flow of aid into the besieged territory.

The United Nations has documented widespread destruction of civilian and governmental infrastructure across Gaza since the escalation began, with hospitals, schools, and police facilities among the structures damaged or destroyed. International humanitarian law prohibits attacks on facilities essential to the survival of the civilian population.

As of Friday evening, rescue teams were still working to reach areas affected by the strikes, with fears that additional casualties may be buried beneath the rubble.
