The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 72,280 since the start of Israel's military offensive in October 2023, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Sunday, underscoring the staggering human cost of nearly 18 months of relentless bombardment and ground operations in the besieged enclave.

The ministry reported that a further 172,014 Palestinians have been wounded during the same period, with medical facilities across the territory struggling to cope with the overwhelming number of casualties amid severe shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and personnel. Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has repeatedly urged the international community to take concrete steps to halt the bloodshed and hold those responsible accountable.

Regional and international pressure for a lasting ceasefire has intensified in recent weeks, with several Gulf states joining calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
