In a letter circulated on Capitol Hill, Krishnamoorthi pressed administration officials to disclose whether back-channel diplomacy, third-party mediation or covert operations had factored into Trump's public claim that the war with Iran had stopped. The congressman stressed that Congress retains constitutional authority over decisions of war and peace, and warned against unilateral commitments that bypass legislative oversight. He also sought details on the status of US military assets in the Gulf, the disposition of carrier strike groups in the Arabian Sea, and the rules of engagement governing American forces stationed in Iraq, Syria and the wider region.

Trump's remarks, delivered earlier this week, came amid a period of heightened volatility between Washington and Tehran, with episodic strikes attributed to Iran-aligned factions and a flurry of diplomatic contacts through Gulf intermediaries. Administration officials have offered limited public detail, fueling demands from both Democrats and a faction of Republican lawmakers for a fuller accounting.
