Hezbollah conducts 61 military operations against Israeli positions in 24 hours

Hezbollah announced on Monday that its fighters carried out 61 military operations over a 24-hour period targeting Israeli occupation army positions and settlements across northern occupied Palestine, marking one of the highest single-day operational tallies since cross-border hostilities intensified last year.
The Lebanese resistance movement said its operations spanned a wide arc of the northern front, striking military infrastructure, surveillance posts, troop concentrations, and settlement outskirts in the Galilee region and surrounding areas. Hezbollah did not provide a specific casualty count for Israeli forces but said the operations resulted in direct hits on their designated targets.
The announcement came via the group's official military communiqués, which described a sustained campaign of rocket barrages, anti-tank missile strikes, and drone operations. The pace of 61 operations in a single day signals a significant escalation in the frequency of cross-border fire along Lebanon's southern frontier, where fighting has continued intermittently since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
Israeli military officials have not immediately commented on the specific figure cited by Hezbollah. Israeli forces have continued retaliatory strikes into southern Lebanon, hitting villages, infrastructure, and what the military describes as Hezbollah weapons depots and launch sites.
The escalation along the northern front adds a new layer of regional complexity to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israeli ground and air operations have continued to draw international condemnation. Qatar, which has served as a principal mediator in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, has repeatedly called for an immediate halt to all hostilities across the region, warning that multi-front escalation risks broader destabilization of the Levant and the wider Middle East.
Doha's diplomatic efforts have centered on securing a durable ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages and prisoners, but Qatari officials have also expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in southern Lebanon, where civilian communities have borne the brunt of cross-border exchanges.
The Gulf Cooperation Council has called for restraint and de-escalation, with member states emphasizing that diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path to lasting regional stability. The Arab League has similarly urged all parties to exercise caution and avoid actions that could draw the broader region into a wider war.
Analysts note that Hezbollah's high operational tempo reflects the group's stated policy of maintaining pressure on Israeli forces as a form of solidarity with Gaza, a posture it has sustained for more than six months despite significant Israeli counter-pressure and threats of a wider campaign in Lebanon.
