Qatari Cabinet Welcomes Outcome of Syrian President's Visit to Doha

Qatar's Council of Ministers on Tuesday welcomed the outcomes of talks held between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Syrian President during the latter's working visit to Doha, describing the discussions as a significant step toward consolidating bilateral relations and supporting stability in Syria and the wider region. The Cabinet, meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan, said the talks reflected Qatar's enduring commitment to the Syrian people and to a political path that preserves the country's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to a statement issued by the Cabinet's media office, the ministers reviewed the joint declarations and understandings reached during the visit, which addressed cooperation in reconstruction, humanitarian relief, energy, investment and the return of refugees and displaced persons. The Cabinet underscored Qatar's readiness to support Syria's recovery through coordinated Arab and international action, and reiterated Doha's call for a comprehensive political solution rooted in the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.

The Syrian President's visit, his first such engagement at this level in Doha, was received with full state honours and included an official reception, bilateral talks and an expanded session attended by senior officials from both sides. Discussions covered the lifting of sanctions affecting humanitarian access, the reactivation of cross-border trade and the restoration of basic services in areas hosting returnees. Qatari officials briefed their Syrian counterparts on Doha's diplomatic engagements with regional and Western capitals on the Syrian file.

The Cabinet also reviewed regional and international developments, expressing Qatar's deep concern over the continuing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and reiterating its call for an immediate and durable ceasefire, the unimpeded entry of aid and the protection of civilians under international humanitarian law. It welcomed ongoing mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt and the United States, and stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital remains the only viable path to a just and lasting peace.

On the domestic front, the Cabinet approved a draft law amending provisions of the labour law to enhance worker protections, endorsed several memoranda of understanding with friendly states, and reviewed reports on the implementation of the Third National Development Strategy. It directed relevant authorities to accelerate digital-government initiatives and to expand investment-friendly regulations in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Cabinet concluded by reaffirming Qatar's principled foreign policy of dialogue, mediation and constructive engagement across the region.
