QBA Explores Health Tech and Medical Research Investment Opportunities with Canada

Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA) board members met a Canadian Qatari Business Forum delegation in Doha on June 10, 2026, to explore investment opportunities in health technology and medical research, including disease detection and cancer research. The Canadian delegation was led by Philippe Couillard, chairman of the Canadian Qatari Business Forum and former premier of Quebec, alongside the forum's executive director, Yasser Dhouib. QBA was represented by board member Sheikh Nawaf Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani, member Sheikh Turki bin Faisal Al Thani, members Yousuf Al-Mahmoud and Ihsan Alkhiyami, and general manager Sarah Abdallah. Talks also covered wider cooperation across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical services and scientific research, with the Canadian side including healthcare-sector companies. The two sides discussed an investment summit set for September 16, 2026, under the theme "Qatar Gateway 2026: Opportunities for Business, Innovation and Growth," to be held alongside the Canadian Investment Summit in Toronto. Sheikh Nawaf said the meeting offered an opportunity to showcase investment opportunities in Qatar to Canadian companies.
