Qatari Prime Minister Chairs Ordinary Council Meeting in Doha

Doha — His Highness the Amir's Deputy and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani chaired the ordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan, in a session that brought together senior cabinet members to review pressing domestic priorities and the latest regional developments shaping Qatar's foreign policy agenda.

The weekly cabinet meeting, a fixture of Qatar's executive calendar, serves as the principal forum where the country's economic, social and diplomatic files are coordinated under the direction of the Prime Minister, who also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Today's session followed the established protocol, opening with a review of the agenda before ministers turned to draft legislation, government performance reports and follow-up items from previous decisions.

The Council of Ministers in Qatar functions as the highest executive authority below the Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and is responsible for proposing draft laws, approving regulations, supervising the implementation of policy and overseeing the work of ministries and public bodies. Its ordinary meetings, typically held weekly, are a key channel through which the state's strategic priorities — from Qatar National Vision 2030 to the country's mediation diplomacy — are translated into operational decisions.

The meeting comes at a moment of heightened diplomatic activity for Doha, which continues to play a central role in mediation efforts on the Gaza ceasefire file alongside Egypt and the United States, while simultaneously managing an expanding portfolio of energy, investment and humanitarian commitments across the region.
